Early on, this raised frame cottage was the home of land registrars Fred Grace and his daughter, Lucille May Grace, Louisiana’s first female elected to statewide office in 1932. The kitchen and laundry room were added in 2002 since there was no kitchen in the original home. The kitchen cabinets are cypress and were taken from the inner walls. (Some of the older maps show the house and the outbuilding, which may have been the original kitchen.)
