Description
This classic home is one of the city's few remaining examples of Greek Revival-style architecture. It was built around 1825. Early on, this raised frame cottage was the home of land registrars Fred Grace and his daughter, Lucille May Grace, Louisiana’s first female elected to statewide office in 1932. Elements of the building's style include the brick piers, gallery with simple rail-and-wood posts supporting a full entablature, square-headed windows and gable roof. This four bedroom, three bath home is all cypress construction and includes approximately three kinds of cypress. There is a formal living and dining room and a den for all of your entertaining. The kitchen and laundry room were added in 2002 since there was no kitchen in the original home. The kitchen cabinets are cypress and were taken from the inner walls. (Some of the older maps show the house and the outbuilding, which may have been the original kitchen.) Other great features include it being on a huge corner lot with a driveway, nice courtyard and a back porch for your morning coffee. It is zoned for residential or commercial use. Minutes from downtown and the state capital. The driveway behind the house is for 781 North St. and is not shared!
